課程概述 |
This course is designed to encourage the students to enhance their listening ability by both extensive and intensive listening practices. Each student will be asked to work on two video clips available on BBC News, prepare a list of vocabulary, and lead in-class listening activities. To stimulate better engagement with the video clips and enhance learning efficiency, the other students will be asked to retell the news story, using the key words they have heard from the video clips. In the drama presentation at the end of the semester, the students will read the lines of actors and actresses when the drama is played mutely. In preparation, the students will need to write down word for word dialogues in the drama, imitate the speed, intonation, accent, and emotional expression of the actors and actresses. |

1.Improve the students’ listening ability by extensive in-class listening activities.
2.News presentations require the students to work intensively on their chosen video clips, in the hope of encouraging them to develop their own listening strategies.
3.Improve the students’ presentation and communication skills.
4.The drama presentation is designed to encourage the students to imitate the speed, intonation, accent, and emotional expression of native speakers, which would in the end improve their listening skills. |
